Your Guide to the Abacos
The Story
I'm a licensed boat captain, though I wasn't born in the Bahamas. I'm someone who fell completely in love with the Abacos and kept coming back — year after year, trip after trip.
I got married on Elbow Cay. I've rented boats from nearly every rental company in the islands. I've stayed in cottages small and large, navigated the shallow banks at low tide, discovered the sandbars the locals love, and found the beach bars that never make the brochures.
After 15+ trips, I realized I had something valuable: real, lived knowledge of how to plan and enjoy this trip the right way. So I decided to share it.
My goal is simple — to show you that the Abacos is more doable than you think, more beautiful than you imagine, and worth every bit of planning it takes to get there right.
Services
Whether you need full trip planning from your couch or a personal guide on the water, I'm here to make sure your Abaco trip goes off without a hitch.
I'm based in South Florida — just a short flight or drive from the departure airports for the Abacos. I can fly in and meet you, or handle everything remotely. Whatever works best for your group.
I'll help you pick the right house, the right boat, the best time to go, a cay-by-cay itinerary, and what to realistically budget. Remote or by phone.
I come with you on the boat you've rented. I'll navigate, show you the best spots, avoid the hazards, and make sure your group gets the most out of every day on the water.
Annotated maps of the best spots, fuel locations, anchorages, snorkel sites, restaurants, and hazards to avoid — built specifically for your trip and boat.
I know the rental companies, the cottage owners, and the local contacts. I can help you get set up with the right people and avoid the wrong ones.
Local Knowledge
The Abacos can be tricky if you don't know what you're doing. Here's what years of experience have taught me.
The Sea of Abaco is gorgeous but laced with shallow coral and rock. I know exactly where the hazards are and how to navigate them safely.
The cuts between cays can have fierce tidal currents. Knowing when and how to cross them safely is critical — especially in smaller boats.
Where to get gas, how far you can go on a tank, and how to plan routes so you never get caught short. I've mapped it all.
Where to anchor safely for the night, which spots have good holding, and where you'll wake up to a stunning view.
From Elbow Cay and Man-O-War to Treasure Cay and beyond — which ones to spend time on and which to just cruise past.
The beach bars, the grouper shacks, and the restaurants that don't advertise online but are worth every effort to find.
When the weather is best, when it's busiest, and how to time your trip to avoid the hurricane season and summer heat.
The reefs that most visitors never find, and how to get there safely without damaging the coral.
Send me a message with your group size, dates, and what you're hoping for. I'll come back with a plan that fits perfectly.
